The Joys of it all!
So they say mondays are not a good way to spend 1/7th of your life. Having said that id also like to point out one of the occupational hazards of a commercial line pilot - NO FIXED OFF DAYS! We are forced to count days of the week as 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and it sucks! There is no weekend or a monday or a sunday! Weirdly enough i am quite enjoying this and my seniors say give it four months and you'll take your words back!
So its been almost close to a month now that i have finally completed with my training as a co-pilot with Spicejet and i have definitely come a long way from where all of this had started. The job profile basically they say is somewhat like a chauffeur. And i agree it has its similarities. We dress ourselves in a clean uniform, we take people from point A to point B, we are often the ones to be blamed if there is a the slightest of discomfort during the whole journey. Well being a chauffeur of US$80 Million airplane surely has a nice ring to it! It might have not been my childhood dream to fly like a lot of people i know but well all i know is that i am enjoying every bit of it.
Another flaw of this profession is and always will be the weird work timings. But after a month of flying and logging about close to 90 hours or so i have realized that we are blessed with the most spectacular views! Getting up at 3:30 am to find yourself flying an early morning flight has somehow been all worth it! Having the view of a rising sun at 37,000 ft above the earths surface has been one of the most brilliant sights iv ever seen! The whole 2-3 minutes when the sun rises from a level below the aircrafts nose and then gradually filling up the sky with colours which one will only find in Gods own colour pallete. Sunsets are no different... to have a view of half world sleeping tight and the rest enjoying day is completely worth it!
I have lost track of time over the past few months and have loads of emotions and thoughts to convey. I hope to get myself sorted soon cause its sorta getting confusing.. its sorta getting dark.....

The Year was 2010!
So yes it has been a while since i have posted anything.. but that doesnt mean i have nothing to say! Its actually quite the opposite! With so much going on lately the last few months have been by far the most 'interesting' ones in my life! The journey to get to that right seat of a Boeing 737 NG has been one of the most ___________. That blank can be filled up with a lot of words and still the feeling would be not correctly described.
The Year started with local train rides almost every day to college which i really do miss now! I miss the bunking of college to watch an early morning show at the oberoi mall and a mega feast at KFC! Hope to do that sometime soon though! Miss the Breakfast Menu at Mcds as well! 1st year was done within no time the so called 'summer' was here which is actually all year long! Summer vacations at college did kinda make things boring 'til on a very fortunate day i recieved the mail which has got me here today! And today on the last day of this decade I thank god for all that he has blessed me with and i dont think i could ask for anything more! (Everyone knows they are lying when they say that! Who in this world doesnt want more?! Because being Satisfied is the Death of Desire as we all know! So strive for more and as i always say Dream Big- Achieve Bigger!)
There were times when i remember me and my friend Sudeep from college would be hanging on the edges of a local and we'd look up in the sky and watch an aircraft taking off as the train passed Santacruz station and i remember telling him that i feel this was the year it will all work out! And it sure did work out for a lot of Us. I truly am am happy for a lot of my friends from college and my flight school who have finally kept their cool and made it through these rough times. And Im certain we share the same feeling of finally reaching the place we dreamt off when we entered into the Aviation industry. Im pretty sure for all those who are still waiting to get a job in this very 'contact' and 'big wallet' dominated industry must be at having a hard time! My only advice would be to just hang in there because things are finally getting brighter and hopefully on the turn of this decade we will see everyone flying in these Indian skies! And may this coming New year may get you a bag full of happiness, success and good health.
As for the Year 2010 its has been by far the most interesting as i said before.I have to say this year has blessed me some new friends and has brought me even closer to the old ones! I am really thankful to all my roommates and my friends who have been with me and helped me to get through the tedious exams and studies of getting where i am right now. I cant emphasise enough about how blessed i am with my family and i am truly grateful for all the support they have shown all through out the past few years! I today sit here, looking back at things i dont think i would have done it any different! And i say that because today i get my 1st paycheque :D so i dont think i hav gone wrong anywhere :P Wohooo :D
Wish all of you a Very Happy and a prosperous 2011 :)

Lessons learnt!
Starting an essay or a write up like this is always tricky!! To find those perfect set of words is a task atleast for me.. But one of the recently learnt lesson was to not beat around the bush! Hence getting directly to the point I would like to thank a lot of people. These certain people are special cause they have the huge responsibility of imbibing and inculcating a way of life into a person.
A TEACHER is not any person who comes with a chalk in the hand and writes something in the blackboard.. Anyone can do that! These are special people who show you the difference between the good and the bad and the right and the wrong! These might be people who one would meet just once in their lifetime but leave them with an important lesson to be learnt! I have earlier spoken bout hitting the parent lottery but I am also lucky to have won the teacher lottery too!! I am truly grateful to them for making me what i am! And so i wish them a very HAPPY TEACHERS DAY!
Today also marks the 3rd aniv. of my 1st training flight to become a pilot :)
OH yes for those who dont know i am working as a Trainee Pilot with spicejet ltd. ;)
Well its been a long road to get where i am right now but i am glad that i am here!
this being a post after a very long time id like to keep it short and end it with one of the most important lessons learnt! That being - never regretting the mistakes you've done cause those are the best teachers one will always have :)

HAPPY MOTHER's DAY!!!
The last week has been arguably the laziest for a very long time! With college done and the results out(Scored 355/500 :D) as well I still have about another boring month to kill. I often act on impulses and i had one this past week to start reading a random book!I, out of this impulse, just went and picked up a book and started reading it. The book titled ‘the last lecture’ is a must read and I tell that by just reading some 20 odd pages of it! While reading it, I couldn’t agree more to a particular chapter –‘The Parent Lottery’. I, like the author Randy Pausch was born with a winning ticket! Yes I Have won the PARENT lottery! Having a parent which lets you follow your dreams and supports you at every step of the way is why I say I am a born Lottery winner!!
‘Mother’ - these six letters hold an important position in our lives and it’s the purest bond of a relationship one has!
Considering it is mother’s day today, me and my sister bought my mom a gift for the Occasion. The gift – A Coffee mug with a message written all over it! I literally mean all over it! Both inside and outside! Selecting the mug wasn’t much of a task though. I guess you all will agree to that when you read what was written on it. It goes like: ‘MY MOM – AWOMAN TO BE PROUD OF…. You’re there when I need you, you forget all your worries. You are my refuge and rock, with you I feel secure. Maybe I should tell you more often how much I appreciate you, but you’re the one I love, a bit more everyday. You bring warmth and joy to my life!’ - 'nuf said : )
So yesterday me and my MOTHER and sis were sitting in our balcony (from where u get the BEST of views of the Skyline of Mumbai :D ) and talking about stuff in general. The discussions we have are often very interesting and I love it! Being jobless for quite some time has made me and my family quite impatient. During this discussion she ended up discussing how much time I end up wasting on FB. But I quickly answered back telling her about my new venture on FB as an ADMIN for a group related to Aviation Studies. Saying that beguiled her from the main discussion of me wasting time on FB! She quickly logged in and asked me to show me how FB works so she can keep a tab on all my posts on it! Yup my mom is on FB :D! The discussion ended after I finished taking notes from MOM about the IDEAL wife I should look for! And at the end of it we realized it was past dinner time and we ended up ordering in. Just as the discussion finished, me and my sis surprised her with the Gift! To see joy and happiness on the face of the most important person in your life is quite the thing we all crave for and thus I pledge again this mother’s day that I will never let my favourite woman in the world down!
I would like to end with a note to all the mothers who have raised and who are raising their kids right now in the best way possible. Enjoy Mother’s Day because you deserve it! God Bless, Live life and show love!
“I can trust my loving Savior
When I fear the world’s alarms;
There’s no safer place of resting
Than Her everlasting arms”
<3 MOM! - this ones for you :)

M&Ms!
It is weird if you think how listening to a few minutes of audible sounds can be such major part of our everyday lives. I’m not talking about the constant scolding a parent bestow on its child almost everyday for no matter what reason it might be. Nor am I talking about the constant car honks and fights you get to hear often (very often) when one belongs to city like MUMBAI or any major city all around the world. What I think is weird is how a dynamic mixture of simple things like melody, rhythm and harmony can elevate our moods and reduce stress and pain (often emotional) levels. Belonging to a city which yells ‘dream BIG, achieve BIGGER’, MUSIC can often prove to be a good driving force.
Talking about Mumbai and music I did edit the lyrics of a song sung by RAP MOGUL ‘JAY Z and ALICIA KEYS – Empire State of mind’ which was actually based on the BIG APPLE. Its unbelievable how much NY and MUMBAI are similar to each other when it comes to dreams and aspirations. A simple swap of words in the lyrics of this song based on the Best City in US of A made it apt for the Best City in India. Here’s how it goes: -
Grew up in a town
That is famous as the place of movie scenes
Noise is always loud
there are sirens all around and the streets are mean….
If i can make it here
I can make it anywhere, that’s what they say
seeing my face in lights
even if it ain't all it seems
i got a pocketful of dreams
Baby im from MUMBAi
Concrete jungle where dreams are made of
there's nothin you cant do
now you're in MUMBAI
These streets will make you feel brand new
Big lights will inspire you
Give it up for MUMBAI MUMBAI MUMBAI :D
MUSIC and MUMBAI have and will always be a big part of my life! And I owe a lot to these two ‘M’s to show me what life is and what it can be! Other than these two, the other M in my life would be my MOM and my elder sis MEETA! I know I would be not even close to portray my thoughts in front of you if it wasn’t for them. I owe my entire life to them! I hope I never let you down miladies.
A note of Appreciation to all those who have commented and critiqued the pervious posts. If it wasn’t for these comments I wouldn’t be writing more! So keep reading and commenting!
Oh yea i luv M&Ms too ;)
